According to reports in Spanish newspaper AS - relayed by the Express - Louis van Gaal has agreed a £24million deal to take Atletico Madrid defender Miranda to Old Trafford this summer.
The paper reports that he has been spotted in Manchester looking at houses to buy and potential schools for his children to attend.
The deal would represent a welcome boost for Manchester United, who are looking to rebuild their defence after losing the long-serving Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic - with the pair both departing the club this summer.
Miranda, who has been at the heart of a solid Atletico defence this season, has decided that he has achieved all he can in Spain. At 29-years-old the Brazilian will bring plenty of much needed experience to a new-look United defence that consists of Phil Jones, Chris Smalling and Jonny Evans.
After going down 4-1 to arch rivals Real Madrid in extra time during Saturday's Champions League final, the dust is beginning to settle on what has been a truly remarkable season for Simeone's team. They achieved more than anyone ever expected them to, and came within 120 seconds of an unprecedented European Cup and league double.
However, such a successful season looks certain to spark an exodus as Miranda, Diego Costa and Thibaut Courtois look set to leave the club in the summer.
