Tottenham Hotspur are chasing Paris Saint Germain midfielder Javier Pastore according to various reports.

Spurs are looking to strengthen the squad after the appointment of new head coach Mauricio Pochettino.

Pastore has yet to indicate that he wants to leave Paris and PSG have yet to put him up for sale.

However, with Eden Hazard a rumoured target and the arrival of David Luiz for £40million from Chelsea, the French club may need to sell to recoup money due to FFP rules and the Argentinian may find playing time limited.

The 24-year-old had limited opportunities last season, scoring only three goals and provided just three assists during his 22 starts.

The likes of Lucas Moura, Marco Verratti and Edinson Cavani were all ahead of him in the pecking order.

Spurs are hoping the lure of working with fellow countryman Mauricio Pochetinno will be enough for Pastore to seek an exit to the London club. He will also be guaranteed more regular first team football.

Moreover, the Argentine may find settling in London easier with Argentine Erik Lamela also at Tottenham meaning there will be less of a language barrier within the squad.

Pastore has also failed to make the provisional World Cup 2014 squad for Argentina with fellow teammate Ezequiel Lavezzi picked ahead of him. The Argentine midfielder has 13 caps for his country and may see a move away as a way to break into the Argentina squad for the future.

Pastore is mainly an attacking midfielder and played as a number 10 during his previous spell at Palermo. During his time in Paris he has shown that he can play as a deep lying midfielder and as a left/right winger.

Pastore can be described as a tall, pacey playmaker with a touch of flair. English fans will also be familiar with his sublime finishing as shown in his goal against Chelsea in the Champions League.

Despite being young, the Argentine has a vast amount of European and Champions League experience and has won Ligue 1 two years in a row with Paris Saint Germain.

Tottenham Hotspur signing Javier Pastore would be a real coup for the London club.

Pastore has star quality, versatility and with regular playing time has massive potential to become an awesome player in the future.
