Alvaro Morata snubs move to Arsenal & Tottenham

Premier League duo Arsenal and Tottenham appear to have lost out on the race to sign Real Madrid’s Alvaro Morata to Juventus.

Sky Italia believe the Serie A Champions have beaten off competition from several top European sides - including Arsenal and Tottenham - to sign the 21-year-old striker ahead of next season’s campaign.

Morata was said to have become disillusioned with life at Real Madrid after failing to hold down a regular spot in Carlo Ancelotti’s first team plans.

The highly-rated starlet has had to play second fiddle to the likes of Karim Benzema, Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale, which is understandable given the sheer ability of the aforementioned trio.

However Morata is not content at sitting on the substitutes’ bench so has decided to leave his homeland in search of first-team football.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger was said to be particularly keen on bringing Morata to the Emirates Stadium in order to bolster his attacking options, however it now looks like the Frenchman will have to turn his attention elsewhere.

Arsenal’s north London rivals Tottenham were also said to be in the market to sign Morata, however their transfer targets may have now changed following the appointment of Mauricio Pochettino.
