Arsenal striker Nicklas Bendtner could join Newcastle this summer if he agrees to take a significant pay-cut.
The Metro believe Newcastle boss Alan Pardew is considering handing Bendtner the chance to extend his stay in the Premier League after being ditched by Arsenal.
Bendtner will become a free agent at the end of next month after failing to prove his worth to Arsene Wenger.
The Danish international scored two goals in nine Premier League appearances for Arsenal last season, as he continued to be overlooked by the Frenchman.
Bendtner - at the age of 26 - will be hoping he can establish himself as a regular first-team footballer elsewhere after failing to break into Arsenal’s first team.
The striker has reportedly been offered a two-year deal to join Newcastle but he will have to take a £12,000-a-week pay-cut if he is to join the north-east outfit, as they cannot afford to match the £52,000-a-week he previously earned at Arsenal.
