Manchester United have made the first moves to complete the signing of FC Dnipro's Yevhen Konoplyanka by opening talks with the Ukrainian outfit, The Mirror reports.
Brendan Rodgers' Liverpool were set to sign the sought-after youngster back in January of this year, although a last minute hitch meant that no deal went through. This news will come as a hammer blow to Liverpool's recruitment plans after it was thought he had hoped to try again this summer.
With Konoplyanka being a left sided winger, you'd think that it might bring either Nani or Ashley Young's time with Manchester United to an end after such disappointing seasons at the club once again. However, this is just one of my own assumptions.
It's thought that Manchester United want to make a statement of intent and start early this year to get who they want, after waiting until the final days of the season with David Moyes at the helm.
And Louis van Gaal doesn't stop there, with it being reported that the Dutchman has a list of four players he wants to bring to the club; Bayern Munich’s Bastian Schweinsteiger, Mats Hummels, of Borussia Dortmund, and Roma’s Kevin Strootman all feature as the other trio he wants.
You'd expect these transfers to be completed after the World Cup now though, with kick-off little over a week away.
