Leeds United have joined rivals Manchester United in the race to sign Cagliari centre-back Davide Astori.
The Daily Express believe Leeds United owner Massimo Cellino is keen on raiding his former side Cagliari for the 27-year-old defender in order to help his side push for a spot in the Premier League.
Astori was being closely monitored by former Manchester United manager David Moyes as the Scotsman identified the Italian as a possible replacement for the outgoing Nemanja Vidic.
New Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal will have his own list of targets - but Astori is still said to be attracting interest from the Red Devils.
However reports suggest they could be beaten in the race to sign the defender by Leeds if Cellino has his way.
Championship outfit Leeds have reportedly submitted a £4million bid for Astori, however Cagliari are looking for at least £8million.
Premier League duo Everton and Tottenham were keeping close tabs on Astori during the January transfer window, however both clubs appear to have switched their attention elsewhere.
