The biggest news from the weekend of course centers around Carl Froch’s devastating knockout of George Groves in their highly-anticipated rematch in Wembley.

The Cobra caught his opponent flush in the 8th round with a shuddering right hand which sent him to the canvas and secured a knockout victory. Groves was humble in defeat, and stated his belief that he will yet become a world champion in the future.

In the French Open Andy Murray beat Philipp Kohlschreiber to secure his place in the next round. The Scot held his nerve to emerge victorious via a fifth-set shootout victory, as the scores ended 12-10 in what was a thrilling matchup. Murray will now progress to face Spain’s Fernando Verdasco, with the winner guaranteed a place in the quarter-finals.

And finally rugby fans were treated to something of a spectacle this weekend, as the Northampton Saints edged out the Saracens to secure the Aviva Premiership at Twickenham The Saints won a thrilling encounter 24-20 courtesy of a late surge from Alex Waller in extra-time, and claimed their first title in fine fashion.
