Manchester City targeting Ashley Cole as Kolarov replacement

Manchester City are considering making a move for Chelsea star Ashley Cole, according to The Daily Mail.

The report has suggested that the Citizens could make a move for the Blues veteran if Aleksandar Kolarov departs the club this summer.

Recruiting a new left-back doesn't appear to be a priority for Manuel Pellegrini, but that may not stop him swooping in for the ex-England international in the near future.

Cole, who has enjoyed a fine stint at Stamford Bridge, looks set to depart the club once he runs out of contract at the end of this month.

It remains to be seen, however, as to whether City step up in their interest in the left-back, but it looks unlikely that Cole will be plying his trade for Chelsea in the 2014/15 campaign.

Chelsea fans will have fond memories from Cole's time at The Bridge, but will hoping he doesn't sign for one of their rivals in the up coming market.

City, the current Premier League champions, may well represent Chelsea's greatest challengers for the title next season.
