It has come to light that the anticipated rematch between UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones and Alexander Gustaffson still hasn't became official.
The pair fought an epic five round fight at UFC 165, in which Jones just took via a razor thin split decision. After the fight, many called for an immediate remtach. Jones disagreed with this, saying he already had commitments to fight Glover Teixeiria next inside the Octagon.
Since, both 'Bones' and Gustaffson have been victorious. The champion waltzed through Texeiria whilst The Swede defeated Jimi Manuawa. The two victories all but set up the rematch.
However it seems that there is a delay on the contract signing from the champion. Seemingly, Gustaffson has signed his bout agreement, yet the UFC are awaiting Jones'. Speaking prior to UFC Fight Night 41, UFC President Dana White said:
"Gustaffson signed his (contract). We're waiting for Jones'"
On why Jones hasn't signed it, White replied "Ask Jon Jones."
Clearly, the actions of Jones makes many doubt his actions. Although he has never had the smoothest relationship with the UFC, his fight with Gustaffson was by far the toughest of his fight and many people believed that 'The Mauler' should have been given the victory.
If the fight agreement does get signed by Jones in the coming week, the rematch is expected to take place in either August or September and will take place in Las Vegas, Nevada.
