Arsenal look destined to miss out on the signing of Real Madrid starlet Alvaro Morata this summer, as his transfer to Serie A giants Juventus edges ever closer.
Italian source Corriere dello Sport relays how chiefs of both Juve and Madrid have met to discuss the finalities of a deal, and that an agreement is close to being reached regarded Morata’s switch away from La Liga. This is in direct contrast to certain recent reports which stated that Arsene Wenger was close to making the young Spaniard his first signing of the summer as he looks to take a new forward to the Emirates Stadium.
At one point the Gunners had opened talks with Morata, and it was thought that they were ahead of rivals Manchester United in the race to sign him. If that’s true then Wenger will be forced to re-assess his plans for the transfer market, and could be forced to look elsewhere in his search for a player to provide support for Olivier Giroud.
The article in question claims that Madrid are keen on completing a deal which would see Morata move to Antonio Conte’s side either on loan for two years, or on a permanent contract with a buy-back clause inserted so that they can benefit ultimately if he impresses away from the Santiago Bernabeu.
