Manchester United fans must be prepared for a new season of a new manager, new players and a new philosophy.

With Louis van Gaal at the helm of United next season there is no doubt that things will change from playing style, to mentality and the squad.

What the Dutch coach brings to United is a playing style that we have seen in the past at Bayern Munich and will see soon at the World Cup with Holland - 'Total Football'.

'Total Football' being the term used to describe all 10 outfield footballers playing the game in equal strengths of technical, mental and physical aspects.

Van Gaal will bring this football philosophy to United with his direct, honest and stern management style that will ensure even the fringe players lift their game in a similar style to the great Sir Alex Ferguson.

To help implement these changes new player accusations are already linked to the team after several big names have been confirmed as departed from the playing squad next season in Nemanja Vidic, Rio Ferdinand and Ryan Giggs, with a few more still potentially adding to that list.

With the immediate losses it is plain to see that Van Gaal's first transfer movements will be in replacing the two key defenders he has lost along with adding much needed quality to the ailing midfield.

Mats Hummels of Borrussia Dortmund is a high profile figure being linked with the move to England which would see him start in the heart of defence alongside Jonny Evans or Phil Jones.

Luke Shaw has been strongly linked with Manchester United with many reports suggesting a deal is close, despite veteran defender Patrice Evra signing a contract extension to stay at the club another season.

Alex Song is pushing for a return to England where he may actually get significant playing time compared to warming the bench at Barcelona. United are interested in the holding midfielder along with other European clubs, but he may see Old Trafford a good fit as the enforcer will have guaranteed minutes.

To partner the enforcer Song, Toni Kroos has been a name linked on and off with United. Van Gaal saying once that he is interested then again that he will not be acting on a move. However, an approach may be made late in a bid to secure Kroos once Van Gaal returns from Brazil and first reinforces his defence.

The attacking options United have next season are very strong, with Van Gaal's compatriot Robin Van Persie heading the United attack with Wayne Rooney behind him. Then the options of the brilliant Juan Mata, the young and talented Adnan Januzaj, hard working Antonio Valencia and ever-improving Shinji Kagawa all at disposal among others.

The new season may look more promising for Manchester United under the Dutch reign.
