The NBA will launch a special edition $119 shoe to coincide with this year's NBA Finals match-up between the Miami Heat and the San Antonio Spurs.

The Heat and Spurs face off for the second time in as many seasons in the NBA Finals, and the first tip gets underway on Thursday evening.

To commemorate the NBA's 68th anniversary, the organisation has unveiled the NBA Anniversary 2014. To be released on June 6th, it will be 68 years to the day since the NBA was founded in 1946.

In an effort to further solidify the link, the NBA will only produce 1,946 pairs for sale - and you can gets yours at NBAStore.com.

You get an official certificate of authenticity, and each pair gets its own unique serial number so it will truly be one of a kind.

“The global popularity of the NBA is at an all-time high and we wanted to create a unique product that would allow fans around the world to display their passion for the NBA,” said Sal LaRocca, NBA President, Global Operations and Merchandising.

“This shoe gives collectors the opportunity to celebrate the league’s incredible heritage.”

It promises to be another great battle between the Heat and Spurs this month - their competition in last year's Finals was one of the most dramatic of all-time.

The Heat are going for a three-peat while Tim Duncan, Tony Parker and the Spurs will be looking to avenge last season's heart-breaking series defeat.
