Liverpool considered Mario Balotelli swoop

Published 1 Comments

Liverpool had considered replacing Luis Suarez with controversial striker Mario Balotelli, according to The Daily Star.

The report suggested that the Merseyside outfit were ready to make a move for the Italian forward if Suarez departed the club for Barcelona or Real Madrid.

However, with Liverpool now expecting to keep the Uruguayan at Anfield, it looks unlikely that the Reds will swoop for Balotelli.

Balotelli, formerly of Manchester City, looks set to depart Italy this summer, and has been linked with a number of Premier League clubs in recent time.

The likes of Chelsea and Arsenal have both shown interest in the 23-year-old, and it remains to be seen as to whether any of England's elite clubs look to take him back to the Premier League this summer.

Liverpool have, however, just completed the signing of England international Rickie Lambert, where he will add competition to Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge in the attacking department.

Balotelli could well return to the Premier League this summer, but he may not join Suarez and Co. at Anfield.
