Dagenham & Redbridge have ruled themselves out of the race to sign Barcelona midfielder Cesc Fabregas, taking to Twitter to deny their interest in the reported Manchester United, Chelsea , Arsenal and Tottenham target.
The Spain international has been heavily linked with a return to England this summer, amid speculation he is free to leave Camp Nou having been told by new manager Luis Enrique that he does not form part of his first-team plans moving forward.
That has prompted widespread speculation linking a host of clubs with moves for the 27-year-old, but one place he definitely won't be heading is Victoria Road after the League Two outfit pulled out of the impending transfer scramble.
In a light-hearted message posted on Tuesday morning, the official Daggers account tweeted: "Breaking: With current interest from London clubs, the Daggers have ruled themselves out of the running to sign Barcelona's, #CescFabregas"
Arsene Wenger allegedly has first refusal to bring his former Gunners captain back to the Emirates, but looks like being outbid by Premier League rivals for the player's services.
Manchester United have also been mooted as admirers of Fabregas having failed in their attempts to lure him to Old Trafford last summer. However, under the new stewardship of Louis van Gaal, there is renewed hope that he can be convinced to join the Red Devils.
Chelsea are believed to be in the running, with Spanish newspaper Marca claiming on Tuesday morning that Fabregas has already completed a medical ahead of a proposed transfer to Stamford Bridge.
Jose Mourinho is said to be eyeing the Barcelona star as a replacement for Blues legend Frank Lampard, who confirmed yesterday that his 13-year stay in west London had come to an end following the expiry of his contract.
Meanwhile, Mundo Deportivo reported on Monday that Tottenham are also unlikely contenders for the Barcelona star, meaning there are three potential London destinations for Fabregas to choose from this summer - even if Dagenham & Redbridge isn't one of them!
