Chelsea are interested in potentially signing Jurgen Damm, Pachuca vice-president Andres Fassi appears to have confirmed.
21-year-old winger Damm has made quite an impression during his formative years in Mexico's Primera Division, making 39 appearances at the Hidalgo Stadium last term and netting on three separate occasions.
In quotes from Fassi that were cited by The Daily Express, he appeared to point to the interest of Chelsea whilst also believing that they could be set to find out just how committed they are with possible talks between the two clubs set to take place later this week.
"Chelsea are the club interested, but we have to see how much they are interested, we can't go ahead of ourselves, we have to wait and see," Fassi said.
"When it comes to us, it's a matter of sporting project. We want him to stay and we will see how much Chelsea are interested. There is a belief they arrive in Mexico on Thursday to talk with us."
With competition for midfield places at Stamford Bridge already particularly fierce, it is a little difficult to see Damm - who has no prior experience of European football in his short career to date - making much of an immediate impact if he were indeed to complete a move to Chelsea this summer.
Rather, the club have fostered a positive relationship with Eredivisie outfit Vitesse Arnhem in recent years, often choosing to send them several of their talented young players to ensure that their development does not stagnate in West London.
Such a loan switch could presumably be a real possibility for Damm if he were to move to Chelsea, although the chances of any initial move to England occurring in the near future will not be known until the outcome of those aforementioned proposed talks with Pachuca chiefs.
