Brendan Rodgers looks to have secured the services of long term Liverpool target Emre Can from Bayer Leverkusen.
Emre Can, a German Under-21 international, is a player Rodgers has admired for some time now and has kept a close eye on according to the Daily Mail.
He comes blessed with both attacking and defensive qualities and could be just the signing to beef up the middle of the park for the Reds.
Can, moved to Leverkusen last summer from Bayern Munich and it looks like Liverpool have managed to activate a £9.75m release clause in his contract luring him to the club.
Rodgers has been an early mover in the transfer window this summer and seems determined not to miss out on what limited resources might be available.
He has already secured the signature of Rickie Lambert from Southampton for £4m, with another England international on his radar in the shape of Adam Lallana.
After coming to within two points of winning their first league title since 1989/90, Rodgers will be determined to go one better next season and is strengthening his squad with an eye on young talent.
One thing that is sure to be giving the Liverpool manager sleepless nights is the ongoing speculation surrounding his leading Premiership goalscorer Luis Suarez who continues to be linked with Real Madrid.
