Barcelona are rumoured to be willing to pay £56 million pounds to secure the services of Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero, according to the Daily Star.
The Argentinian striker managed to score 17 times from only 23 appearances in a season plagued by injuries. This could mean that Manchester City will have funds to enable them to be involved in the race to gain Cesc Fabregas' signature.
Aguero was Manchester City’s top goalscorer last season, one ahead of Edin Dzeko and eight ahead of new-boy Alvaro Negredo. Barcelona are hoping to sign the striker to increase their fire power which could allow them to overtake Aguero’s former club Atletico Madrid, and take back the La Liga title.
City have not indicated that they would like to sell Aguero, but the Star cites that he is new Barcelona manager Luis Enrique's number one transfer target.
It could be a very hectic time transfer window for the Premier League champions if it continues at this pace. With Yaya Toure's departure from the Etihad looking and increasing possibility, City will most certainly be reluctant to part company with another influential player.
Joleon Lescott looks set for a move away from Manchester but is unsure whether to move across the pond or continue in the Premier League. England midfielder James Milner is also facing fresh speculation about his future, with Arsenal in line to be first to capture his signature.
