Floyd Mayweather will now self promote his own fights after parting company with Oscar de la Hoya's Golden Boy promotions.
De la Hoya’s former right hand man Richard Schaffer left the company after months of public in fighting, which triggered Mayweather to part company with Golden Boy. The split comes days before the company stand to be inducted into the international boxing hall of fame.
It is no secret that Mayweather and Golden Boy do not get on and only worked on the same shows because of Schaffer. Without him apparently the pair no longer want to communicate. There is more bad news for Mayweather however, as he has had to cancelled a press tour of Britain because of a Visa issue.
It is the second time an American boxer has been refused entry into the United Kingdom inside a year, after Mike Tyson was turned away in December.
One of the stops on Mayweather's tour was Bolton, the hometown of Olympic silver medallist Amir Khan. This has once again fuels speculation that the pair are set to meet in a ring next May.
Mayweather is due to fight next September against an unnamed opponent, but this falls during Ramadan so would rule the Khan out.
Many felt however that it should have been Khan in the ring with Mayweather in May, as he won an opinion poll which asked the question who the undefeated boxer would fight next. Instead 'Money' fought Marcos Maidana, edging his opponent by way of a majority decision victory.
