Borussia Dortmund made to wait on Matthias Ginter transfer

Borussia Dortmund may have to wait another year to clinch the coveted signature of Matthias Ginter. The Freiburg defender has also been linked with Arsenal and Manchester United, but it may be that Ginter remains with his current employers for next season.

Dortmund have been credited with interest in Ginter for some time and BILD reports that the Bundesliga giants have been negotiating a proposed deal for the player, with a bid of €10 million submitted.

A deal that would see Ginter stay on loan with Freiburg for another campaign has been discussed between the two clubs, although the German newspaper claims that any agreement may be put on the back burner until next summer.

It may be that this provides hope of sorts for Arsenal and Manchester United, with a potential transfer to either the Emirates Stadium or Old Trafford having been mentioned as a possibility for Ginter in recent months.

The 20-year-old would surely be an attractive proposition for Arsene Wenger and Louis van Gaal given his ability to operate in a number of positions. Ginter made 28 appearances in central defence in the recently finished season, but was also used in midfield on 11 occasions.
