Luis Suarez made priority target for Real Madrid by Ancelotti

Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti has given his club the green light to try and sign Luis Suarez in a stunning raid this summer, as Los Blancos look to build on their Champions League success next season.

Reports in Spanish newspaper Marca, commonly viewed as the mouthpiece of Los Blancos, claim that Ancelotti has met with Madrid president Florentino Perez and discussed transfer plans moving forward. Whilst it’s been made clear in previous seasons that the European champions are willing to take risks when it comes to buying players they perhaps don’t need, this summer their primary focus has turned to Suarez. In essence he is their chosen one.

Madrid have sought-after the free-scoring Uruguayan for quite some time now, and last year they engaged in a battle with Arsenal to compete for his signature. Now however it would appear that they are more ready than ever to test Brendan Rodgers’ resolve, and €80million could be put on the table to kick-start negotiations.

Strangely it’s also thought that Ancelotti wants to retain the services of Karim Benzema, and that coupled with Perez’s recent comments on Alvaro Morata remaining at the Santiago Bernabeu beyond this summer means that the Italian could well have plenty of firepower next term.

Manchester United have also been linked with Suarez in recent days, though his club will no doubt fight tooth and nail to ensure he stays after his incredible 31 goal season. The player himself could ultimately decide his own future if he decides that a move away from Merseyside is in fact what he wants, though the notion of him abandoning Liverpool on the back of their most successful season in recent times makes little sense.
