It is fast approaching that time of year, when agents’ mobile phones go into complete overdrive. This summer will certainly be no different.

Newly crowned Champions League winners, and for an unprecedented tenth time, Real Madrid are undoubtedly the biggest club in the world of football, and will definitely be looking to add to their infamous squad of ‘Galacticos’.

The PFA player of the year, Liverpool’s Uruguayan star Luis Suarez is top of Florentino Perez’s summer shopping list. He will stop at nothing to get his man, just ask Daniel Levy and Tottenham Hotspur, after their 2013 pursuit of Gareth Bale…

With the World Cup coming up in Brazil, clubs will be looking to get business done early, due to ever increasing valuations of players who shoot to stardom, on the world's biggest stage. This summer will see a whole host of transfer activity on the back of the tournament.

Even though Real Madrid boast the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale and Karim Benzema in their ranks, as well as emerging talents such as Alvaro Morata and Jesé, they will do whatever it takes to prise Suarez away from the Merseyside outfit. Even if they break their own transfer record, set just less than twelve months ago.

One stumbling block Perez may face, is that Liverpool have secured Champions League football for next season, and just recently Suarez put pen to paper on a bumper deal at Anfield.

The main school of thought here is that Suarez agreed to stay on the proviso that Liverpool guaranteed him the chance to perform in the Champions League. Real Madrid manager, Carlo Ancelotti has dropped numerous hints that he would love to work with a player of the calibre of Suarez, adding more fuel to the ever increasing fire. It is probably inevitable that Madrid will test the water with a series of bids before dangling the bait that they will hope, Liverpool won’t reject.

Speculation in the Spanish press has hinted that Madrid will look to offload Benzema in order to fund the move for Suarez. Surely Liverpool would be foolish if they didn’t encourage a cash plus Benzema deal? Or are they desperate to keep hold of Suarez, regardless of any formal offer? One thing for certain is that there is no doubt that Suarez would be a revelation at the Santiago Bernebeu, a proven performer in the English Premier League, seen by many as the best league in the world.

A move to La Liga would suit him down to the ground. As successful as Liverpool have been over their glorious history, this is Real Madrid. A club the majority of players would find impossible to decline, will Suarez be the next Galactico? Time will tell.

From a Madrid perspective, they will definitely want to get Suarez signed up before the start of the World Cup, if he excels then the ball is firmly in Liverpool’s court. They could have Madrid right where they want them, figures of around £60M have been floated around. Surely if Bale cost close to £100 million, Liverpool have the right to expect a similar offer, for a player who is currently in his peak.

There is nothing concrete, it is pure speculation. But if Suarez were to leave Liverpool, it is to be expected that Spain will be the only destination. This is a rumour that is expected to gather pace and momentum, throughout the summer.
