We start with the U.S. Open and Thomas Bjorn has been forced to withdraw with neck and shoulder injuries. The Dane started very strongly at the BMW PGA Championships at Wentworth last month and a top twenty finish at the Nordea Masters made him an outside bet for victory at Pinehurst.

The lucky man to take take his spot is amateur Andrew Dorn who was the first alternate from the sectional qualifier in Springfield, Ohio.

Also joining Thomas Bjorn on the injuries list is Richard Sterne citing a slow recovery from an undisclosed injury.

The captains for the Presidents Cup have now been announced. Nick Price will head up the international team with K.J Choi as his vice-captain and Jay Haas leads the Americans with Fred Couples as his assistant. The tournament will take place in Korea in 2015 on its first trip to Asia.

And finally Rory McIlroy has been named The Race to Dubai European Tour golfer of the month for May following his victory in the BMW PGA Championship. The Northern Irishman came from behind to shoot a 66 on the final day at Wentworth for his first title in over 18 months.
