Olivier Giroud almost decapitates Tottenham rival with volley

The rivalry between Arsenal and Tottenham has always been ferociously strong, and the animosity shared by the clubs often translates to the players of either side too.

Those looking for any evidence of such indifferent relations need look no further than the French training camp for the World Cup, in which Gunners striker Olivier Giroud apparently tried to take the head off of Spurs ‘keeper Hugo Lloris with one of the sweetest volleys you’re ever likely to see. Merely a few days following on from Bacary Sagna’s sensational strike from distance, his compatriot proved that he’s every bit as capable of hammering home a clean volley.

We’re sure the strike from Giroud wasn’t actually hit with the intentions of finding Lloris rather than the back of the net, but no one can deny that the ball wasn’t hit with a needless aggression given the range.

Watch the video above to see the action unfold.
