Tonight marks Impact Wrestling’s first episode of June. That means that by tomorrow, there will be just one edition of Impact left to air before the live Slammiversary pay-per-view event, which first hits screens on the 15th June.
On last week’s show, Samoa Joe made a dramatic return – and tonight will be all about the fall-out from his last minute face-off with MVP – and hopefully some sort of explanation as to where he’s been all these weeks.
Joe will likely join the face stable also consisting of World Champion Eric Young, Bully Ray, Austin Aries and The Wolves. Expect there to be more building of that key storyline over the next ten days.
How will MVP and his stable-mates – Bobby Lashley and Kenny King– deal with the pressure? And how will they cope with having the troublesome Carter’s (Dixie and Ethan) lurking nearby, ready to pounce and regain control of wrestling operations.
Meanwhile, Ray will be back on the warpath this week as he looks to tick off another name on his hit-list. Last week, he revealed that he had a table ready for each of his enemies: Lashley, King, MVP, Spud, EC3 and Dixie. With the help of Eric Young, Ray succeeded in putting Spud through a table last week, and will be after name number two today.
With that element of the show virtually in place, setting up for several excellent pay-per-view matches – including the already announced bouts between Young and MVP, and Ray and EC3 – the remaining air time will be given to setting up other important storyline arcs.
Tonight’s headline match, as billed by the official website, is Willow against Bram. Last week, Bram devastatingly defeated Tigre Uno – with Magnus watching on at ringside. Bram attempted to attack Uno after the bell, before being hauled away by the former World Champion. Disgusted by his friend’s actions, Magnus challenged him to defeat a real opponent – Willow.
In addition, we also have the intriguing Knockout’s Title match to look forward to – between Angelina Love and Madison Rayne, a rematch of the Sacrifice pay-per-view. However, the main question surrounding the match will be regarding Brittany, and where her allegiances lie after her bizarre outburst last week. Brittany screamed continuously at Rayne, saying that she just wanted to be with her.
Last week we were teased a potential feud between the Bro Mans and the Menagerie, who came out and ‘celebrated’ the Bro Mans defeat to the team of Mr. Anderson and Gunner. The Menagerie are a lot of fun, but it’s certainly about time they did some actual wrestling, rather than just jump on balloons and pose against the ring ropes.
Other questions include whether Samuel Shaw will indeed escape the mental institution and return to TNA? How long will MVP be able to maintain the ‘indefinite suspension’ over Bobby Roode? And will the widely rumoured returns of Brooke Tessmacher and Taryn Terrell become reality between now and the end of Slammiversary?
Remember the show airs tonight in the US on Spike TV, and on Sunday for UK viewers on Challenge TV!
