Often described as the most hated team in the NBA, according to a large database created by Facebook, the Miami Heat have an overwhelming amount of support in comparison to the San Antonio Spurs.

The two franchises meet for game 1 of the NBA finals and if the outcome of the series was dependant on America's support for the team, the Miami Heat would have a huge advantage over the Spurs.

The map indicates the red areas for the Miami Heat and the grey/black areas for the support of the Spurs, the darker the colour the wider the gap is for favouritism by that specific zip code.

The database was compiled through likes on Facebook in a head-to-head contest between the NBA finalists Heat and Spurs. The national support seems to be very much in the favour of the two-time defending champion Miami.

The research is rather surprising since the Heat have been portrayed as the villain's of the league ever since they teamed up superstars LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh in south beach.
