Fixtures

23rd June v Spain (Curitiba)

Strengths

Tom Rogic can act as an alternative playmaker to the ageing Bresciano. Mark Milligan and Mile Jedinak are perfect for Australia pressing possession game.

Weaknesses

They will be missing the vital winger Robbie Kruse. A team that severs the supply to Tim Cahill will shutdown the Australians. Their slow defence could be vulnerable to the pace of Chili and Holland.

Key Player

Tim Cahill. Australia and New York Red Bull’s talisman can still put in a performance when he needs to. He is the top-scorer for the Australians by quite some distance and he will hope to add more in Brasil.

Prediction

It is difficult to see them progress from a group containing Spain, Holland and Chile. But they will not go down without a fight.

Odds

500/1
