Manchester United are prepared to blow Juventus out of the water by offering over €30 million for Barcelona winger Alexis Sanchez. The Chile international has emerged as one of Louis van Gaal's top summer transfer targets - and the veteran Dutch coach appears to have given the Red Devils the green light to press on and sign the 25-year-old while he takes charge of the Netherlands at the World Cup finals in Brazil.
According to Marca, Juventus will offer Barcelona €18 million for Sanchez - who scored 21 goals and provided 15 assists in 54 appearances for the Catalan giants during the 2013/14 campaign - while the player would earn €4 million per season.
United, however, are prepared to flex their financial muscle by offering over €30 million. It was reported at the weekend that the Premier League giants have moved ahead of Liverpool and Tottenham in the race to sign the attack-minded winger, who is expected to shine in Brazil over the forthcoming weeks.
Manchester United are also keen to sign Sanchez's Barcelona teammate Jordi Alba after the English club's pursuit of Southampton left-back Luke Shaw hit a snag. However the 18-year-old England international, who wants to move to Old Trafford this summer, remains Van Gaal's first-choice left-back target for the time being.
The potential signing of Sanchez would be a huge coup for the Red Devils, who will not compete in either the Champions League or Europa League next season after finishing seventh in the Premier League table.
Since completing his move to Barcelona from Udinese in 2011, Sanchez has scored an impressive 47 goals and provided 34 assists in 141 matches.
