Ever wondered what an NFL team populated with the toughest nastiest comic book characters would be like well look no further because, we've got Marvel's ultimate offensive lineup.
QB - Iron Man
Early on in his career there were questions about Iron Man's team ethic. Sure he often made fantastic plays but his prima donna attitude rubbed teammates, coaches and fans
the wrong way at times.
After his fourth quarter game winning drive against the alien invasion of Earth two seasons ago those concerns were well and truly put to bed.
Add these intangibles to his rocket powered rushing ability and his literal cannon of an arm and you have a great franchise QB.
RB – Ant Man
Running backs can either be elusive ghosts or maulers who blast their way through tackles. Ant Man is able to do both. He can either shrink himself to tiny size to squeak
through the smallest of gaps or transform into the size of tower block and stomp his way forward.
A legitimate three down running back. These guys are like gold-dust in the modern NFL.
C – Mister Fantastic
Mister Fantastic may not have the 300 pound weight that you expect to see from a lineman but his intellect and stretching abilities more than make up for this.
Particularly, useful is his ability to read the opposition defense and call out audibles.
LG - Invisible Woman
Although undersized for a lineman the Invisible Woman ability to erect forcefield barriers makes her perfect for the role at offensive guard. Combine these skills with her great understanding with the centre Mister Fantastic and the offensive line as a unit is looking solid.
RG - Venom
Although perhaps someone who struggles to play well with others Venom has a number of abilities that make him perfectly suited for the right guard position.
Firstly, he adds some speed and mobility to an offensive line that is looking slightly cumbersome. Add to this his strength, excellent awareness and shapeshifting abilities and the right guard position is perfect for him.
LT – Hulk
The Big Green Machine is the perfect franchise left tackle who possesses the capability to simply destroy any “puny” blitzing defenders who try to get past him.
The Hulk does have some anger issues that can lead to offensive penalties for unnecessary roughness but this just makes adds a healthy dose of fear into opposition defenses.
RT – The Thing
Blessed with superhuman strength “The Thing” is the perfect power blocker for the right tackle slot. Questions can be asked about his lack of height (he's only 6' tall) and less than ideal arm length but these are overstated.
In the end though "The Thing's" overwhelming power, strength and plain wall like physique make him the great player to protect the pass and pave the way in the run game.
TE - Doctor Octopus
With all his extra arms Octo Octavius aka Dr. Otto Gunther Octavius should be able to stop two or three blitzing defenders by himself when blocking.
Plus when used as a receiver his catch radius should be exceptional allowing even the most scattergun QB to hit the target. On the other hand there is the danger that his
mandibles will burst the ball.
WR – Thor
A true warrior Thor's ability to fly and all round superhuman strength allows him to run routes with blistering speed and make lots of yards after the catch.
The Norseman's insistence on carrying a hammer when playing however, have led some pundits to question his ability to protect the ball when being tackled.
WR – Spiderman
Not everyone thought it was fair when the NFL rules committee allowed Spiderman to keep utilising his web-shooters but his spectacular grabs were too thrilling to be outlawed.
Combine this with his natural showboating skills, freakish ability and spidey sense and Spiderman is an instant fan favourite.
Certain media outlets though loath him with the heat of a thousand suns and are rumoured to be searching for any dirt they can dig up on him. Media mogul J. Jonah Jamieson is
pushing stories alleging that Spiderman has used drugs derived from tarantula's venom to boost him performance.
Spiderman's agent Peter Parker firmly denies these accusations however.
WR – The Falcon
Talk about vertical separation Falcon offers this and then some. He might not be possess the truly elite speed that some of his team mates have but he is the perfect receiver
to just keep the chains moving.
