Last summer saw Arsenal smash their club record transfer as they completed a mega deal to bring Real Madrid superstar Mesut Ozil to north London.
And, with the Gunners expected to invest heavily in the squad once again this summer, a number of Madrid based players have been linked with the club.
However, Arsene Wenger and Co. mustn't obsess with the Spanish giants over the coming months. The transfer window hasn't officially opened yet, but Arsenal have been linked with as many as five Real stars.
In reality, it's extremely unlikely that the Gunners will land any of them, though. Of course many will say that the transfer of Ozil was a surprise, but this time Wenger and Co. should steer away from the Bernabeu.
Madrid - managed by Carlo Ancelotti - won't want two or three of their stars playing for the same side. On paper, Gunners fans would feel extremely excited by the possibility of these guys lining-up in a red shirt next season, however Wenger should do his business differently this time around.
Arsenal have a team ready to compete for major honours, and Arsenal just need a couple of tweaks. The Gunners need stars hungry for success, and there are stars who can fit into Wenger's philosophy better than the Bernabeu bunch.
Real stars will certainly come overpriced and Wenger and Co. must go about their business in the right way. Are they really prepared to smash their record transfer once again this summer? Well, if they attempt to land the likes of Di Maria and Benzema, they may have to go over that £42.5 million.
At the end of the day, are the top players from Madrid really going to leave? The La Liga giants have just won the Champions League, and are regarded as the best side in world football.
It could prove a lot of hassle for the Arsenal hierarchy if they try and go into business with the Spanish side once again. Ozil was a coup, and Wenger can find another top signing this summer...but his main targets shouldn't represent the colours of Real Madrid.
