Angelina Love retained her TNA Knockouts title last Thursday, defeating Madison Rayne in a rematch from April’s Sacrifice pay-per-view.

After waiting over a month to cash in her rematch clause, Rayne was attempting to draw level with Love’s tally of six reigns as Knockouts Champion.

However, in a repeat of their previous match-up, Rayne was undone by the influence of a ringside Velvet Sky, who sprayed her in the face with hairspray in order to allow Love time to grab the pin.

Following her bizarre outburst the previous week, it was a surprisingly understated Brittany who also watched from ringside. The TNA newcomer heeded Rayne’s advice and did not intervene in the match, even when her beloved hero was in trouble – something that ironically did not go down too well with Madison.

At the start of this week’s episode of Impact, Brittany approached Madison in her locker room, where she was preparing for her match. Brittany apologized for her previous actions and told Rayne that she is there for anything that she needs. Madison responds by telling Brittany in a painfully clear and slow manner, that she wants her to do nothing. Rayne then departed leaving Brittany looking disappointed.

From the opening bell, Rayne began attacking Love relentlessly, clearly still harbouring some discontent over her defeat to Love at Sacrifice, on top of her continuing problems with Angelina, Velvet and the Beautiful People.

With virtually the opening move Rayne took down Love and made a quick cover for one. Love responded by striking Rayne on the floor, just as Brittany made her way down to ringside. Distracted, Rayne jumped up and yelled at Brittany that she said not to do anything. Love was quick to take advantage, striking with a kick to the ribs of her challenger.

But it was not just Rayne who was distracted by Brittany’s presence, with Rayne catching Love off guard with a couple of rollups. Now back on top in the match, Rayne followed up by booting the defending champion in the face, before slamming her repeatedly against the canvas.

As Rayne bounced back against the ring ropes, preparing herself for a final assault on Love, Sky – who had jumped up on to the ring apron – attacked yet again with her bottle of spray, causing Rayne to slip and clutch at her burning eyes.

Velvet’s attack came directly in front of where Brittany was standing, with Brittany obediently doing absolutely nothing. Angelina quickly rolled Madison up and grabbed the win.

After the match, Rayne found Brittany backstage and asked her why she didn’t help when she saw Velvet spraying her in the eyes. Brittany smirked and said that she did what Madison told her to: she did nothing. Frustrated, Madison turned and smacked the wall as Brittany walked away.

Love will likely face another Knockouts title defence at Slammiversary on 15th June, with three-time champion Gail Kim surely now the next in line for a shot at the gold.
