Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has warned Arsenal, Monaco and any other top European clubs courting Angel di Maria that his star midfield maestro is going nowhere this summer, despite widespread rumours of a £40m summer switch.
Di Maria chipped in with 11 goals and a whopping 26 goals across all competitions for Madrid last season, quashing any doubts over his standing at Madrid and proving an integral part of the side which secured Copa del Rey and Champions League success.
That blistering form has led the 26-year-old to be watched very closely by a string of Europe's top clubs, but Ancelotti is adamant that despite talks of a £40m release clause his key playmaker is not for sale.
Ancelotti is quoted by the Express as insisting: "I think that Di Maria knows very well that everyone loves him.
"The coach, the club and the fans love him. I don't think he has any doubt about that."
Despite Ancelotti's words of warning scouts are certain to be watching Di Maria's performances for Argentina at the World Cup, as the wing wizards looks to take his club form onto the international stage.
Premier League giants Arsenal, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur have all been linked with Di Maria over the last three months, alongside Monaco, Paris-Saint Germain and Juventus.
Since that rumour mill swung into overdrive Di Maria has proved his worth for Madrid with a string of consistently excellent performances, but still has to play second fiddle to the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale and Karim Benzema.
A mega-money summer switch could allow Di Maria to take a leading star role elsewhere, much like former team-mate Mesut Ozil's £42.4m switch to Arsenal last summer, but Ancelotti is still very confident of persuading the versatile midfielder drastic action is not required.
