The Argentinian winger was heavily linked with a move away from the Bernabeu last year, but opted to stay and fight for his place in the first team. That proved to be a wise decision as his performance in the Champions League final helped inspire Real Madrid to victory over rivals Atletico Madrid and their 10th European crown.
Manchester United, Arsenal and Manchester City have all been linked with the 26-year-old in the past.
Although Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti has recently insisted that a transfer isn't on the cards, the Daily Star suggest that Madrid bosses are open to the idea of selling up if a £40 million offer is made.
Manchester United appear the most likely to splash the cash this summer, with a host of stars linked with moves to Old Trafford. With Louis van Gaal signed up as boss, they've been linked with moves for the likes of Luke Shaw, Mats Hummels and Thomas Muller. Di Maria could well be a good fit for Manchester United, with doubts over the calibre of their wide players emerging last season.
Arsenal meanwhile were credited with an interest in Di Maria when his time at Real Madrid looked over with the arrival of Gareth Bale at the Bernabeu, but they instead focused their efforts on landing team-mate Mesut Ozil. Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger may consider £40 million somewhat excessive for Di Maria, and is expected to target a forward this summer instead.
