Bayern Munich are in danger of losing Manchester United target Toni Kroos for nothing next year after he turned down the offer of a contract extension at the Allianz Arena according to Bild.

Recent reports have suggested that the midfielder could be on his way to Real Madrid - even as part of a swap deal with Sami Khedira - however Bild refute that claim and instead insist he intends on running down his contract with Bayern Munich before considering his options as a free agent in 2015.

Bild say that Bayern have offered the 24-year-old a pay-rise to €6 million a year but that offer has been on the table since the start of the year and Kroos doesn't want to accept.

That could be good news for Manchester United, who were heavily linked with the German international last month. Reports suggested they were close to sealing a £20 million deal to lure him to OId Trafford, only for new boss Louis van Gaal to pull the plug.

It was then claimed that the Manchester United manager tried to resurrect the deal by calling Kroos personally, but to no avail. Van Gaal is likely to be in the race for Kroos next summer if he is indeed available for free, and will hope to convince him that his future lies at Manchester United instead of Real Madrid. Kroos would also still have the option of agreeing a new contract with Bayern.

While Kroos won't arrive in Manchester this summer plenty of other new faces should; the Red Devils have been linked with a wide array of players including Luke Shaw, Cesc Fabregas and Thomas Muller - although as yet there have been no new arrivals at Old Trafford.
