Chelsea are ready to sell German midfielder Marko Marin to Werder Bremen this summer, according to The Daily Star.
The report has suggested that Blues boss Jose Mourinho is ready to let the player depart Stamford Bridge for £7 million in the up coming transfer window.
And, it appears that letting Marin leave will make way for incoming Spanish star Cesc Fabregas. Chelsea are seemingly intent on bringing the former Arsenal man to the Bridge this summer, meaning Marin's spell at the club could come to an end in the near future.
Marin has struggled for opportunities at Stamford Bridge in recent time, and was even shipped out on loan to La Liga outfit Sevilla last season. It remains to be seen, however, as to whether Werder Bremen are ready to offer the full asking price for the midfielder, and if Chelsea can get the Fabregas deal over the line.
With Financial Fair Play now playing an integral role in the game, Mourinho's decision to axe Marin looks the right one. After all, the 25-year-old couldn't claim a place in the 2013/14 campaign, and competition for places will be even more intense next term.
With Marin potentially off and the likes of David Luiz, Ashley Cole and Frank Lampard all set for the Stamford Bridge exit door, there will be a new look Chelsea team next season.
Mourinho really will be putting his stamp on the team, but will it work for the 'Special One'. The Blues boss will be losing some of his most experienced players, but will be bringing in two world class La Liga stars.
Many expect the Diego Costa deal to be finalised in the near future, and he will certainly add a further goal threat for the Blues. Fabregas, meanwhile, can become an influential figure in the Chelsea team, and will be desperate to slot nicely back into London.
In the end the 2013/14 season proved a slightly frustrating one for Chelsea - despite a maintaining a title challenge and reaching the Champions League semi-final - so Mourinho will be targeting trophy success next term.
He's certainly taking a gamble in this transfer window, but it's one that could pay off by next May.
