As players prepare for the World Cup to kick off on Thursday some players are taking more extreme precautions to ensure they are able to perform to the best of their ability in the tournament.
Despite being named the best player in the world Cristiano Ronaldo is making sure he takes no chances in tainting his chances of World Cup success with injury.
The striker is reported to have adopted the advice of Sports Scientists who have suggested that that the 29-year-old should sleep in stretches of eight or more hours, and when awake should eat small amounts of food every few hours.
All of which are fundamental in preventing fatigue, which could potentially impair his decision-making at key moments.This preparation comes after what has been a particularly challenging season for the star following a high number of games with both Real Madrid and Portugal.
Combined with his injury history, age, physique and hectic travel schedule Ronaldo is at a larger risk than many to be affected by injury. Let's hope that this all pays off in the end, otherwise it would have just been a huge waste of time for the talented star.
