Chelsea to encourage Petr Cech to find new club

Chelsea are ready to encourage goalkeeper Petr Cech to find a new club this summer as they look to offload him, according to

The report has suggested that the Blues are ready to listen to offers for the 'keeper, with the player set to be in demand from a number of European clubs.

It appears that Blues boss Jose Mourinho will make 22-year-old Thibaut Courtois his No.1 choice between the sticks next season, meaning Cech's Stamford Bridge career could come to an end.

The youngster - who was on loan at Spanish champions Atletico Madrid last term - enjoyed a fine 2013/14 campaign, and played his part in helping the club reach the Champions League final. And now it appears that he will be Mourinho's main man for the Blues from next season.

But is Mourinho making the right decision? To sell Cech this summer seems an odd one. After all, the Blues boss already looks set to lose experienced duo Ashley Cole and Frank Lampard, so he could do with keeping hold on one of his great successes at the Bridge.

The Blues are set to keep hold of their captain John Terry for another season, but perhaps Cech should stay too. The 'keeper didn't disappoint last season, and still proved his credentials for the team. Cech has certainly not lost it and has enough about him to play at the top for years to come yet. Some will point to Cech's age as a factor as to why Chelsea could let him leave, but 32 isn't ancient in regards to the goalkeeping department.

It is, however, understandable that Mourinho is ready to keep hold of Courtois. He's gained rave reviews throughout his three year stint in La Liga, and the Chelsea hierarchy can't send him out on loan forever.

A decision was always going to have to be made at the Bridge this summer. It appears slightly unfair to get rid of Cech, but Courtois will act as a fine replacement.

And it shouldn't take him too much time to settle. Some will point towards Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea, and look at his struggles in the early stages of his Red Devils career.

However, the Manchester United No.1 is a very different 'keeper to Courtois. The man set to become No.1 under Mourinho is more physically developed and won't take time developing into a Premier League star.
