Hannover have secured the signature of Joselu following his impressive loan spell at Eintracht Frankfurt, after the player signed a four-year contract having made the decision to leave Bundesliga rivals 1899 Hoffenheim.
This deal certifies that Mame Diouf will not be a Hannover after the end of June when his contract comes to an end. The club were unable to come to terms with a new deal for the striker and he is now Premier League bound, with Stoke City looking to be the likely suitors.
Joselu, a former Spain U-21 International and an ex-Real Madrid youngster, believes this is an ambitious move that will favour him.
"It was my intention to join a club with a clear vision," the 24-year-old told the Bundesliga website.
"By committing myself to Hannover, I'm joining a terrific team with an ambitious coach. The discussions I had with (CEO) Martin Kind, (sporting director) Dirk Dufner and (head coach) Tayfun Korkut convinced me that I can develop here and fit in perfectly with the team and their philosophy."
The Spanish striker has made 24 appearances in the Bundesliga this season for Frankfurt and he has scored nine goals. He also played in the Europa League and the DFB Pokal, furthering his tally with five goals in nine games.
Initially he was brought in by Hoffenheim in the summer of 2012, when he completed a €6million euro deal from the Santiago Bernabeu. Although he found the net five times in his debut season, the striker's services were transferred elsewhere.
Sporting director, Dirk Dufner, was impressed by the impact the Stuttgart born player had at Frankfurt in the last campaign and feels he has got to more to show in the Bundesliga.
"Joselu really made a name for himself last season with some very impressive performances," said Dufner.
"We wanted to bring in a striker with Bundesliga experience, but who also still has room to develop."
Obviously Diouf is a player who feels he can no longer develop at the club and is in need of a new challenge. The Senegal striker, who has played in the Premier League with Manchester United, is rumoured to have agreed terms with the Stoke but Wolfsburg are still keen to steal him from their latches.
Their general manager signalled that they are still interested in him despite the fact he has already passed a medical at the Britannia Stadium, and he has yet to put pen to paper. The club are also considering making offers for Romelu Lukaku, Alvaro Morata and Hertha Berlin's Pierre-Michel Lasogga.
