England parked the bus in the bus in Rio, waiting for midfielder Ross Barkley to arrive.

The bus set with without him but was quickly brought to a halt as they released the 20-year-old had not made the 9:45 deadline.

This meant that there were many angry motorists behind who could not travel in any direction because of the police escort around the bus. As the Evertonian entered the bus he received a round of applause from his team mates.

With impressive performances in the World Cup warm up matches in Miami, the Barkley is in contention for an England starting place against Italy on Saturday.

Having played in the number 10 role against Ecuador it is unlikely he will be picked ahead of Wayne Rooney, although he impressed when coming off the bench for the striker against Honduras.

A more likely option would be in midfield where he could partner Steven Gerrard in midfield ahead of Jordan Henderson or Jack Wilshere

It could be a nervous wait to see if the captain is fit to play after he didn't take part in the second part of training with a groin strain.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain however has made a good recover from a knee injury that he picked up against Ecuador.
