GMS academy member Graham Leydon has decided to profile how he thinks each and every one of the 48 group-stage clashes will unfold at a South American showpiece, which is now under 24 hours away, starting with Group A.
Group A - How it could pan out?
Brazil will most likely top the group with nine points thanks to a kind, fairly straight-forward draw. They should overcome Cameroon, Croatia and Mexico with relative ease, the only danger could be from Croatia, but they will have the firepower to extinguish even their hopes in the World Cup opener.
Why they will get through with ease? It's due to the depth of their squad, plus with being at home, they will find the conditions easy to deal with and be able to revel in playing in front of a frenzied Selecao faithful.
In terms of their results they will win 3-0 against Cameroon and Mexico and win 3-1 against Croatia, they will look impressive in each game, with Neymar and Fred scoring potentially six of the goals, with Hulk, Thiago Silva and Kaka scoring the other three goals.
Croatia will come through in second, with six points, they have too much talent to not progress through to the last 16 at least, while a loss to Brazil will hurt them, they will have too much for Cameroon and Mexico.
They could potentially draw against Mexico and sneak through on goal differenc, but they should go through either-way.
There results will be as said 3-1 to Brazil and 2-0 against Cameroon and 2-1 against Mexico. Mario Mandzukic, will score three goals, Luka Modric will score the other.
Mexico will finish in third with three points, while have a talented squad, just not strong enough to compete with Croatia or Brazil, there final group game against Croatia will be exciting though to see who qualifies in second.
They will win 2-1 against Cameroon, and lose 2-1 and 3-0 against Croatia and Brazil respectively.
Giovani Dos Santos will be the scorer of both goals.
Cameroon, will sadly prop up the group in last, with no points, they will put strong showings in each game but will be out their depth sadly by the end.
Their results will be a 3-0 loss to Brazil, 2-0 loss to Croatia and 2-1 loss to Mexico.
Samuel Eto'o will be the scorer of their lone goal.
