Sky Sports have confirmed the arrival of a new channel that will be dedicated solely to European football.
The new channel ‘Sky Sports 5’ will be available through the Sky Sports package, showing European Championship qualifiers, Champions League action, Spain’s La Liga and the Copa del Rey. Though these are just a handful of an array of fixtures from around Europe and related programmes that viewers will be able to watch via the channel.
Managing Director, Barney Francis said: “Sky Sports 5 takes our unrivalled live football coverage to the next level offering more European football than ever before.”
Through the launch of this channel Sky Sports will no doubt gain a huge advantage over their competitors, despite already offering their customers two years free unlimited broadband they will be offering a deal customers just will not be able to refuse.
In addition, the channel will exclusively air coverage of the Eredivisie, Holland’s top division, as result of a four-year deal aimed to show the top teams from the Netherlands in their domestic campaigns.
It is clear that Sky Sports have hit the nail on the head with this one, by launching a channel dedicated to the leagues that are home to some of the best players in the world there is no denying that their viewings are going to go through the roof.
