Robin van Persie Netherlands teammate Daryl Janmaat have escaped serious injury after a kitesurfer collided into them while they visited a Brazilian beach, reports the Daily Star.

The pair were hit by a kite surfer who lost control of the board, but all three, rather fortuitously, received minor injuries.

Feyenoord right-back Janmaat believes that the surfer only missed his head by "two fingers" which could have ruled him out of their first game against Spain on Friday night.

The Dutch FA have confirmed that the injuries sustained were just "light scratches and headaches".

Janmaat is expected to be playing his football outside of Holland next season with both Arsenal and Tottenham seemingly the most likely destination.

Italian clubs Napoli and Juventus are also being muted as possible clubs that are interested in signing the defender.

Louis van Gall will be taking charge of his Netherlands side for the last time in a tournament after being confirmed at the man to succeed David Moyes.

Holland finished runners up last tournament thanks to an extra winner from Andres Iniesta and will be hoping to go one better this time again.
