The fact that #WengerOut is trending on Twitter right now tells you pretty much everything you need to know about how Arsenal fans feel about Cesc Fabregas joining Chelsea.
The Spaniard, who left Arsenal to join Barcelona in 2011, confirmed today that not only was he leaving the Nou Camp to join Chelsea, but that Arsenal opted against activating a buy-back clause in his contract that gave the Gunners' first refusal on him.
That little nugget of information in his statement on his official Facebook page has not gone down particularly well with some Arsenal fans. Or indeed, any Arsenal fans.
Some opted for the rational approach and realised that spending almost £30 million on a player that the club don't really need instead of a new striker, say, may be a wise move. Not everyone could see that logic however.
"Arsenal didn't need Fabregas but sometimes its better to stop your rivals getting them players and filling your team with quality #WengerOut" reasoned Twitter user Davide Kabanda. Arsenal may end up shelling out a fair amount this summer if they opt for this particular approach going forward.
"Cesc Fabregas wanted to come back to Arsenal and Arsene Wenger said NO. Unbelievably stupid decision. #WengerOUT" chimed in @Nnamddi.
Of course no transfer saga can be wrapped up without the obligatory "joke memes" doing the rounds - so please feel free to look away now while we post the "funniest" one.
"BBC Sporf" piped up with this effort, which has almost certainly been pinched from elsewhere:
"20th April 2011 - Fabregas: "I will never sign for any English club except Arsenal."
"12th June 2013 - Fabregas: Signs for Chelsea"
Ever the optimist @phantomgoal added his two pennies worth with this little gem: "Barcelona should go and buy Ramsey to replace Fabregas, just to send Arsenal fans into a downward spiral of blood and despair." Angry football fans on social media know how to take a joke, right?
A few famous faces got in on the act, with one in particular pointing out the bleedin' obvious; what on earth were Manchester United doing while Chelsea were signing Fabregas?!
Rio Ferdinand tweeted: "Fabregas is a Great signing for Chelsea....will score & create goals in the role vacated by Lampard....would have liked him at @ManUtd me!"
So it seems safe to assume that Arsenal fans aren't over the moon that Chelsea now have one of the best players to grace north London in recent years. It's also fairly safe to say that fans of the Blues are feeling pretty smug right now.
"Courtois, Zouma, Lukaku, Fabregas, Diego Costa, Luis, and we're not even done yet.
If I wasn't a Chelsea fan, I'd be sh*tting myself," beamed Chelsea fan @CarefreeDaily.
Still, not everyone from Chelsea was over the moon.
"I still f*cking hate Fabregas!!" tweeted this Chelsea fan. Can't please everyone now, can you?
