Costa Rica, England, Italy and Uruguay make up this year's group of Death if the FIFA rankings are anything to go by.
Only Costa Rica are not inside the top ten of the ranking with four spaces separating the other three.
Uruguay occupy seventh space whilst Italy and England sit in ninth and tenth respectively.
This means that at least one side in the top ten will not make it through to the knockout stages.
When England found out their fate in December FA chairman Greg Dyke made the slit throat gesture, which suggested how difficult he thought it would be for the national side to make it out of the group.
Scoring 56 points Group G which consists of Germany, Portugal, Ghana and the United States of America was originally considered the group of Death when the draw was made.
According to the rankings Argentina should cruise into the knockout stages, playing in the highest ranked group alongside Bosnia-Hertegovina, Iran and Nigeria.
Hosts and favourites Brazil have the third easiest group and begin their campaign for a sixth world Cup against Croatia followed by matches against Mexico and Cameroon.
