Uruguay's talisman Luis Suarez could be rested for their second group game against England to prepare them for a possible decider against Italy, according to the Daily Express.
The news could be a huge boost for England as the Uruguayan has been terrorising defences all season.
Even the six games at the beginning of the season that he was banned for could not stop the striker becoming the Premier League's top goal scorer by some margin, with 31 goals in 33 appearances.
Suarez will always cause defenders problems but we have yet to see how well he will link up with someone other than Daniel Sturridge, while also battling to prove he's fully fit after having a knee operation under three weeks ago.
Uruguay face the supposed whipping boys of the group Costa Rica in their Group D opener on Saturday night, before taking on stiffer opposition in England next Thursday.
The final match is against Italy and will likely determine whether they advance to the knockout stages or board take the first plane back across the border home.
Factor the competition being held in South America and Uruguay have obvious advantages over their European rivals in terms of acclimatization, particularly if Suarez can win his battle to star.
Despite what the bookies say the South Americans should be the favourites to advance to the knockout stages, the absence of Suarez however will surely play a huge factor and could see England spring a relative surprise and top Group D in a fortnight's time.
