Leeds United are eyeing a move for Arsenal midfielder Chuks Aneke, according to the Daily Express.

Aneke is set to leave the Emirates Stadium this summer on a free transfer after failing to open talk with the club over a new contract.

The 20-year-old played on loan at Crewe Alexandra last season and is presumably frustrated at the lack of first-team opportunities in North London.

Former England Under-20 player Aneke scored 14 goals in 40 appearances last season after having a similarly successful loan spell the year before.

Leeds are thought to be the early frontrunner to secure his signature with a permanent return to Alex also a possibility.

It is suggested that the way the Championship side develop young talent could given them the edge.

Plus, there is the added attraction of playing in a higher league with ambitious owner Massimo Cellino looking to get the former champions of England in the Premier League by the 2015/16 season.

As a product of the Arsenal youth system, the 20-year-old may want a return to Alex to repay the faith they showed in him.
