Eden Hazard is undoubtedly one of the most exciting players at this summer’s World Cup finals in Brazil - but it’s safe to assume the Chelsea and Belgium winger won’t be making the cut for the US Open or the Masters anytime soon based on this hilarious footage.
If you can’t wait to watch 23-year-old’s laughable attempts on the driving range then scroll to the bottom of the page - believe us when we tell you it’ll make you smile!
Many footballers have plenty of time to hone their skills on the golf course, but Hazard clearly isn’t much of a fan. The attacking winger failed to connect with either of his shots - much to his, and his teammates’, amusement - although who knows whether those in control of the Belgium national team’s social media merely caught the former Lille star in an off-moment.
Hazard’s technique on the football pitch is often flawless, but the likes of Colin Montgomerie and co. would have a field day analysing the young man’s swing on the golf course.
Still, Belgium coach Marc Wilmots won’t give a hoot how poor Hazard’s golfing skills are if he produces the goods for the Red Devils this summer. The Belgians have long been touted as dark horses to cause an upset at this summer’s World Cup finals in Brazil - and the European nation kick off their campaign against Algeria in Belo Horizonte on Tuesday afternoon.
Belgium, who are equipped with a host of household names, are widely expected to qualify from a group also containing Russia and South Korea. As well as Hazard, Wilmots also has the likes of Romelu Lukaku, Vincent Kompany and Thibaut Courtois to call upon.
Failure to qualify from Group H would be a disaster given the talent in Belgium’s ranks. Many believe it’s the best group of players they have ever assembled, although some predict they will be better-equipped to challenge for a major tournament at the 2016 European Championships in France.
However, if all of the 32 nations competing at this summer’s World Cup finals organised an impromptu game of golf - it’s safe to say the £60m-rated Hazard’s name wouldn’t be on Belgium’s list of players.
