Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Thiago Silva helped AC Milan close the deal for French international Jeremy Menez, the player revealed.
Menez is in Milan to complete a medical with the Rossoneri and the French international admitted it was two former Milan stars that convinced him a future at the San Siro was the path he should follow.
Swedish superstar, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, spent two very successful seasons with AC, scoring 42 goals in 61 appearances, while Brazilian international Silva, featured on 93 occasions before he was tempted into a move to the French capitol, and Menez admitted that their respective experiences at the San Siro sealed the deal for his move.
"Ibrahimovic and Thiago have always spoken well of Milan. They have some regrets over having left the club, and their words definitely prompted me to come here," Menez told Milan Channel.
"In the last two or three years I have played up front, as a trequartista, on the left, the right and in the centre. I am completely at the disposal of the coach in terms of where I will play," the player stressed.
"I chose Milan because they are still Milan. They may have gone through some trouble last year, but we hope to become great again and win something important. You can see that Inzaghi is already recharging for next season and he really wants to win. He has already won so much as a player, and he wants to win as a coach too."
New coach and former AC Milan legend, Filippo Inzaghi, was so determined to land the versatile player that he sent club representatives to the paradise island of Ibiza where the player was on holiday at the time.
Menez felt that this clearly signalled intent, and certainly helped in the thought process as the player knew about the attention he was receiving from a host of Premiership clubs including Arsenal and Liverpool.
"Yes, that was decisive," he told MilanNews. "I was pleased that they came to Ibiza to see me. It was a good sign for me.
"Hopefully this will be a year of revival for Milan. We will do everything possible to become Milan again. I have not spoken to Alex yet, but I am delighted he has also joined because he is a great player."
Menez has tasted life in Italy and Serie A before when he spent two years playing for Roma, however the most success in his career to date has come alongside Ibrahimovic and Silva with PSG.
He joined the club in 2011 winning two League titles, and at 27-years old his move to Milan could be the perfect challenge at the right time.
Inzaghi has been active in the market since taking over, securing the services of Menez, former team mate Alex and goalkeeper Michael Agazzi from Chievo.
