Despite recent media speculation about his departure from the Etihad Stadium, Yaya Toure's father has officially ruled out a move for the 31-year-old.
Just earlier this month, after their Premier League triumph, City were struck by reports that Yaya Toure was packing his bags to leave the Manchester club. Why? Because they didn't wish him happy birthday. It may seem crazy, but there is a deeper reason to why he wasn't happy. After the season of his life, scoring 20 in the league and helping City to their second title in three years, he felt he needed more gratitude from his teammates who apparently didn't even shake his hand on his birthday.
He was strongly linked to his old club Barcelona and PSG. Toure's agent was highly convinced that his unhappiness would signal an end to his Manchester City career but his father has ruled out a move.
"No, he won't leave. And it's not even my wish that he leaves Manchester City" his father told Goal.com.
"If Yaya wanted Manchester City to pay particular attention to the date of his birthday, it's because he felt that it was the right moment for the club to show him their consideration for all the sacrifices made for City to be at this level".
This can't really be much of a surprise to the footballing world as he is having a time of his life in Manchester scoring a career high of 24 goals in all competitions.
So unlucky Barcelona, it looks like the prolific Ivorian won't be coming back this season.
