Retired NBA star Reggie Miller may not be watching the World Cup too eagerly what with the NBA Finals still going on, but he has had something to say about the ‘No Sex’ rules that some head coaches have implemented on their teams at the tournament.
Numerous teams in Brazil have been banned from banging while their still in the game, but Miller says it is them that are being screwed by no longer being able to, well...screw.
Speaking to a TMZ Sports reporter, the former Indiana Pacers legend said that he had seen the news that players weren’t allowed to have sex and disagreed with the managers completely. Asked if he thought having WAGs in the hotels were distracting Miller replied:
“No, if you’re a trained athlete, like these guys are, then you’re going to focus in no matter what. I’ve heard about that though, i know boxers do that before a big fight they go months abstaining from sex. It’s mind over matter.”
Miller then joked that if there were any coaches in the NBA that followed the same rules the soccer managers set out then they would not be in the job for very long.
The 48-year old even went as far as to insinuate that the nations should be embracing sex before a match to relax players nerves. You can check out the video of Miller on TMZ here.
There are actually several teams that are currently under a World Cup sex embargo. Mexico coach Miguel Herrera has said that "Forty days of sexual abstinence is not going to hurt anyone." This one is justified though, what with eight players being kicked out of their Copa America squad three years ago for partying with prostitutes. Herrera has also banned red meat and alcohol during the tournament.
Chile have long been a fan of the no sex rule at the World Cup, being one of the first nations to implement it, with significant others only being allowed to visit on off days. Bosnia manager Safet Susic has banned sexytime as well, but isn’t being unreasonable. His players can masturbate to their heart’s content.
Germany, Ghana and South Korea are the other teams that have full sex bans in Brazil. Maybe that will actually be a help for USA in the Group of Death or maybe i’m just clutching at straws over here.
