There's few people who would say the modern day footballer is in need of an ego boost, but that's exactly what the Portugal squad have been given this summer - as revealed by midfield man Joao Moutinho.

Cristiano Ronaldo and teammates will be staying in personalised hotel rooms in their Brazil base, with players names and numbers adorning the walls.

If that wasn't enough, each player will have pictures of himself in action for the national team hanging from the walls to provide them with a constant reminder of why they're in Brazil for the next month. For the likes of Ronaldo it's hard to think of anything better than a room decorated with pictures of yourself, perhaps a wall of mirrors is the only thing that could make the Real Madrid man happier.

Like Ronaldo, the bearded Raul Meireles will no doubt relish the opportunity to admire the facial-fuzz which has seen him become football's biggest hipster.

The effort made by the Portuguese Football Federation was clearly appreciated by some members of the squad, Moutinho tweeted a picture of his room with the message: "Special treatment at the hotel. A room with my name."

While Paulo Bento's squad are living the life of luxury between games, thousands of Brazillians are living in poverty - something which has caused protests across the host nation.

However, that won't phase the Portuguese squad, who will be hoping to stay in their personalised palaces until well into July, with the final taking place on the 13th.

The rooms may make the difference to a team who have gradually improved during their three warm-up fixtures. A drab 0-0 draw hardly had Portuguese fans drooling before the squad travelled to the USA to continue their preparations. A last minute Bruno Alves goal sealed a 1-0 win against Mexico before Hugo Almeida scored twice in a convincing 5-1 victory over the Republic of Ireland.

Having arrived in Brazil all focus will be on their opening group game against Germany, a fixture which will no doubt have a huge say on who tops Group G.

Games against USA and Ghana will follow for Bento's men, who will be expecting to make it to at least the last 16 of the tournament.
